WAYNE PARKER RAISES $177,299 TO START CAMPAIGN
1st Quarter FEC Report Shows Tremendous Support

Huntsville, AL - Wayne Parker, Republican candidate for Congress (AL-5) filed his 1st Quarter FEC report showing he raised $177,299. The report covers the period ending March 31, 2008.

"The level of support our campaign is receiving is incredible," Parker commented. "In what is a very short and quick primary, having the resources to run an effective campaign is tremendously important."

Prior to announcing his candidacy on April 3rd, Parker had been raising money for a little over a week. In addition to the cash on hand reported today, at the time of his announcement he also had commitments for $250,000.

"The financial support we are seeing just mirrors the overwhelming grassroots support we have seen over the last few weeks. People from all over the 5th district are responding enthusiastically to our message. I believe good people can still make a difference. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve, but also excited about fighting for what I believe," Parker said.

Wayne Parker, 48, is a 4th generation Huntsville native who previously ran for Congress in the 5th district in 1994 and 1996. Since then he has been active in his church and community activities in Huntsville where he resides with his wife Lisa and their four children. Wayne currently is Vice President of IOA, one of the nation's largest privately held insurance companies.
